Mike's Pilot Log: South to South Adventure

Olivier and I had our official arrival in Johannesburg.

Olivier and I had our official arrival in Johannesburg.

For the next 4 days Olivier, Manuella, Andre and Martine stayed with Charmaine and I at our home in Johannesburg. Needless to say, we partied, and partied some more and socialised and rested for the whole time. It was a fantastic end to our adventure. Olivier and I had time in relaxing circumstances to talk about our trip, to spend a last few days together before they headed northwards towards Botswana and Namibia. Olivier intends spending a few months in Namibia before flying home to Switzerland.

I have so many people to thank for their support over the year …. I will not talk about them now, but in time will add a list to this web page.

For the moment, I want to say thank you to Olivier. He is generous and kind beyond words, a man of strength and courage, like no other. I could always rely on him, he never faltered for a moment, he was always in a good mood, he risked everything for us to achieve our dream.  The expedition was fun, an adventure of a lifetime, but sometimes it was very tough ….. and through all our great moments and our toughest times, we hardly said a word in anger to each other. We have ended the expedition as the very best of friends…. for both of us that is an incredible achievement on it's own.

To you, my free spirited friend, thank you for the most incredible year.

Mike
