Mike's Pilot Log: South to South Adventure

Have nearly done half of Africa.

Took off before the sun was up. It was a good flight, the weather was clear for most of the way – had to do some cloud dodging and low level flying over thick bush for a few hours. After 5 hours we landed at Cotonou, Benin. We parked the trikes and rushed by mobilette (little scooter taxis) to the Nigerian embassy – the 3rd Nigerian embassy. Spent 3 hours in the Nigerian embassy, were told to come back the next day. Very frustrating, being ignored, hissed at like a dog, and weren't even allowed to fill a visa application in.

Booked into a cheap hotel. Bad hayfever, very lumpy bed – about the worst on the trip because the springs dug into my ribs.

Have nearly done half of Africa.
