Mike's Pilot Log: South to South Adventure

Argentina is extremely expensive

We took a taxi to the airport and checked the weather report. The weather had changed and we were not able to go on. A front was passing through, the temperature plummeted to 5 degrees and the wind was gusting to 60 km/h.

Ruben, the chairman of the local Aeroclub and the resident instructor, met us at the airport and after a few hours of battling with the wind were able to get our trikes into the Aeroclub hangar.

We booked into the Puma Youth Hostel in town. It was warm and comfortable and quite cheap.

Argentina is extremely expensive – especially for travellers. We have discussed prices a lot (our tight budget forces us to be very careful with money) and both agree that Argentina is about as expensive as Switzerland – at least twice as expensive as South Africa.
