Mike's Pilot Log: South to South Adventure

Our last day into Cape Town...

Our last day into Cape Town …….. we were busy packing and having a last cup of coffee, when a microlight came zooming overhead. Soon there were about 8 other microlights with us. Some of the pilots landed on the little road and taxied up to us to say hi. At about 10:30am we took off for our last leg into Cape Town. We were escorted by a few of the pilots, while others went ahead.

After a short flight across Table Bay towards Table Mountain, we turned east and landed at Contemanskloof to a very warm welcome.

I was thrilled to see my wife, Charmaine and our daughter, Alexandra waving enthusiastically as I taxied towards the hangars. Almost my whole family was at the airfield to meet us. After saying hello to everyone, amidst cheers and tears, Olivier and I congratulated each other and drank some champagne together.

So, that was the end of our official expedition. We have flown just over 43,000 km in 8 months, without a single incident. Bloody marvellous!!!
