THERE IS A GOOD NEWS AND A BAD NEWS..

THE BAD NEWS FIRST.. THE BAD NEWS IS THAT MY ENGINE WHO USED TO START MUCH EASIER THAN MIKE'S IN SOUTH AMERICA AND UNDER TROPICAL CONDITIONS, DOES NOT ANYMORE. WE TRIED A LOT OF THINGS BUT NOTHING IMPROVE IT.

THIS ENGINE (LIKE HIS OPERATOR..) DOES NOT LIKE COLD! WHEN WARM, IT STARTS IMMEDIATELY.

OF COURSE ROTAX HAS NO REAL CLUE, OR DID NOT COME BACK TO US WITH ANY GOOD SOLUTION AS ALWAYS AND I AM STARTING TO THINK ABOUT MAKING A LITTLE DETOUR ON OUR WAY TO GENEVA AND LAND RIGHT ON TOP OF THE "BOMBARDIER" FACTORY IN AUSTRIA. OR BOMB THE BOMBARDIER, WHICH SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. (HISTORY: ARMAND BOMBARDIER OF QUEBEC/CANADA WAS THE FOUNDER OF BOMBARDIER COMPANY SOME 50 YEARS AGO. TODAY, BOMBARDIER HIS A HUGE COMPANY THAT MAKES AIRCRAFT (DE HAVILLAND, TWIN-OTTER AND MANY MORE). BOMBARDIER BOUGHT ROTAX AUSTRIA SOME YEARS AGO TO EQUIP THE SKI-DOO WITH ROTAX TWO CYCLE ENGINES . I MIGHT BURN MY ENGINE STARTER ONE OF THESE DAYS BY PULLING SO MUCH ON IT.

NOW THE GOOD NEWS!

WE CONSIDERABLY REDUCED OUR FUEL CONSUMPTION BY DROPPING DOWN (1 SLOT) THE JET NEEDLE ( FOR THE NON EXPERT IN MECHANIC, THE "NEEDLE JET" OPERATES THE DEBIT OF FUEL IN THE CARBURATOR VIA THE JET. EN FRANCAIS, IL S'AGIT DE L'AIGUILLE DE GICLEUR QUI OUVRE LE DEBIT D'ESSENCE ).

WE PASSED FROM 15 TO 16 LITERS AN HOUR TO NOW 13 LITERS ABOUT, WHICH IS A VERY SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT (ACTUALLY BLOODY MARVELOUS!), ESPECIALLY BEFORE CROSSING ALL THE WATER AHEAD OF US. WE FEEL MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE ABOUT OUR RANGE AND SAFETY MARGINS.

WE STILL WAITING FOR THE GREEN LIGHT TO CONTINUE NORTH TO BROUGHTON ISLAND, THE LAST AIRPORT IN NORTH AMERICA BEFORE CROSSING TO 'EUROPEAN SOIL"..

BEST THOUGHTS FROM US AND OUR INUIT FRIENDS

OLIVIER
