Well, the dictionary definition goes like this:
Mushroom - the fleshy spore-producing body of any of various basisiomycetous fungi, typically consisting of a cap (see Pileus) at the end of a stem arising from an underground mycelium.
And this is supposed to be food??????

and as for fungus:
Fungus 1. any of one of a group of organisms, classified as plants by some authorities, that lacks clorophyll, leaves, true stems, and roots, reproduces by spores, and lives as a saprophyte or parasite. (so what HAS it got of nutritional value, I mean, we're talking poison here!) 2. is boring 3. any soft tumorous growth (yechhhh)
